SARS-CoV-2 Spike RBD Protein

The SARS-CoV-2 Spike RBD is a recombinant protein containing amino acids 319-541 encoded by the S gene sequence, with a C-terminal 6xHis tag.

SARS-CoV-2 Spike RBD Protein

The SARS-CoV-2 viral spike protein is a surface glycoprotein encoded by the S gene.  It binds the host receptor angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) via the receptor-binding domain (RBD), and is therefore considered to be good target to block viral entry.

The SARS-CoV-2 Spike RBD is a recombinant protein containing amino acids 319-541 encoded by the S gene sequence, with a C-terminal 6xHis tag.

The protein is manufactured in HEK293 cells with greater than 95% purity.

The sensitivity of Covid-19 antibody screening tests has been debatable due to highly variable antibody responses in Covid-19 patients.   We have demonstrated that effective Covid-19 antibody screening tests must include both Nucleocapsid and Spike RBD antigens.  The use of only one SARS-CoV-2 antigen, fails to detect a significant number of positives.   Studies are ongoing to establish the probability of patients eliciting a humeral response to SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid, Spike RBD or both.
