Typhoid Fever

Typhoid fever is an acute systemic illness caused by Salmonella enterica serovar Typhi.

Typhoid fever remains a major public health concern, causing an estimated 22 million cases and 200,000 related deaths worldwide each year.

Accurate diagnosis of Typhoid fever is challenging due to antigenic cross reactivity between related bacterial species, and as a result current tests have moderate diagnostic accuracies.
